Hello Everyone,
In this post, I will demonstrate how to migrate VMware VMs to Azure Public cloud by using Azure Migrate Services. To migrate your the VM to Azure, you need to create azure migrate project, configure the azure migrate appliance and create the assessment for the VM.
Once all the pre-requisites is completed. Navigate to your azure migrate project on azure portal and click replicate to start the replication.
On the source setting, At Are your machines virtualized? > choose Yes, with VMware vSphere. Next choose your appliance at On-premises appliance then click next.
Next on virtual machines tab, at Import migration settings from assessment? > choose Yes, apply migration settings from an Azure Migrate assessment. Choose the group, assessment and the VM to be replicated and click next.
On target setting, define the subscription, resource group, virtual network, subnet, availability option, choose yes for automatic repair replication, choose disk encryption type and if you buy the license with SA, choose yes for Azure Hybrid Benefit then click next.
For compute, Enter the Azure VM Name and choose Azure VM Size then click next. For the Azure VM Name, once the VM is migrated you cannot change the name.
For disk, choose either to replicate all disk or only the disk that are required. Choose desired disk type and click next.
Next review the setting and click replicate to start the replication.
When the configuration completed, you can review the replicate server by click on the replicating servers.
On the replicating machines, you can view the replicated servers status.
To view the job, click on the jobs tab on left navigation pane.
To start migrating the VMs, click on the three dots (…) on the right of the page and choose migrate from the dropdown list.
